THIRTY YEARS OF TEENAGE KICKS

The Undertones are happy to announce that new arrangements have been made with Union Square Music for the re-issue of the first four albums. All four albums will be remastered and reissued on the Salvo / Ardeck imprint with bonus tracks and new booklets. The re-issue campaign will also feature a 56 track 2CD anthology including 27 previously unreleased demos, live, session and rehearsal tracks.

The campaign will kick off on August 31st with a 30th anniversary digital `vingle’ release of the original Teenage Kicks plus a previously unreleased live version and the original promotional video. That will be followed by a physical re-release of the original 4 track Good Vibrations Teenage Kicks single complete with original fold-out poster booklet on September 8th. The 2CD anthology will be released on September 22nd the same day as the band (including vocalist Paul McLoone) headline London’s Dingwalls. Further releases will follow throughout 2008 and 2009.

THE UNDERTONES CELEBRATE 30 YEARS OF GOOD VIBRATIONS

On April 25, The Undertones will headline a unique concert to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Belfast based record label, Good Vibrations. The event will take place at the Mandela Hall, and tickets are £20.

The label was founded by Terri Hooley in April 1978 and was based in his record shop on Great Victoria Street, Belfast.  Perhaps the most famous release on the label was ‘Teenage Kicks’.

Good Vibrations was more than just another record shop and label. It enabled young people to believe in the power of self expression and understanding at a time when society in N. Ireland was tearing itself apart. To this end, the concert is billed as “Good Vibrations – A Light in the Darkness”

As Michael Bradley from the Undertones says, "Good Vibrations proved to me that great things can arise when a one eyed anarchist, running an uneconomic record shop in the 1970s, decides that bands from Belfast and Derry could make records as good as anyone else!"

Prior to the concert, a bus tour of Terri Hooley’s Belfast has been arranged as well as a special screening of John T Davis’ Ulster punk documentary “Shellshock Rock”.

Venue – Mandela Hall
Date – Friday 25 April 2008-03-03
Artists – The Undertones, Shame Academy, The Panama Kings + Very Special Guests
Tickets - £20 available from

MIDNIGHT MICKEY

Mickey Bradley presents weekly BBC radio show.

On Thursday 15th February Mickey Bradley, an Undertone and BBC Producer, went back to a presenting role with this Radio Ulster programme. It is part of a new weekly series dedicated to punk rock classics.

Playing everything from the New York punk of The Ramones and The Heartbreakers through to the London scene of the Sex Pistols and The Clash, to the one hit wonders and the influential icons of the genre.

Mickey says: "This programme will be an unashamed wallow in the best punk records of 1977, before and beyond. Thirty years after they played, the influences and effect of bands like the Clash, Buzzcocks and the Sex Pistols are more widely felt than they were at the time."

To check out the programme on line and listen again to the most recent show just visit the shows website.
