Lyrics appeal

Postby Phil » Sun Nov 23, 2008 10:39 pm

I know it's been around a while and the reason will beome clear soon enough but......

Can anyone tell me what the last line is on "Girls that don't talk" please?

Girls that don't talk
Still can't see
When they come home from work
And ??????????

It is now officially driving me nuts. It was written by John so if anyone sees him... ask him for me will ya?

Hawk,

I know that's what all the lyrics sites say but, whilst acknowledging that John is not the reincarnation of James Joyce, I could not believe that the lyric was correct. (apart from that it sounds pervy)

Kate,

Your version sounds much more plausible and I think that I should go with that.

Thank you both

Phil/Kate,

I think John needs to sort this one out.

Oh please do ask, I am not saying that I am smarter than u , I don't know but boys will be boys and nine times out of ten I hear it the wrong way. If anyone could indeed ask John I would be really really grateful, he can only say no. No rush, it's not an emergency case.

Sad innit?

Hi Phil

To my ears Kate is spot on, "When they come home from work, why they don't talk to me"

Kate/Phil/Arthur,

The plot thickens.................

I have spoken to Paul McLoone and he says that he sings "“I wish they’d talk to me”.
(But he adds that this is no guarantee of authenticity.)

I think that John still needs to confirm.

Well Paul's the main man now in my book although we must of course respect the rights of the composer....

If anyone is wondering why the sudden interest, I am currently (slowly) uploading all the old dot net material to a web site (in case Fearall is reading, it's legit and paid for out of my own pocket) and part of that is a profile of each of the albums, including lyrics. Bad news is that as I check them with what's available on the web it obvious that Americans listening to a Derry accent singing make some pretty basic mistakes.

And the microsite is only some pages attached to my own website, it is not intended to compete with the official one. I must also add that I am now fully aware of just how much work goes into the setting up of one of these things and will never complain about delays again.

Kate/Phil/Arthur,

Just to bore you even more !!

I listened to "The Radio Sessions" version on slow speed via Windows Media Player and to be honest it does sound like the "pervy" version.

Try it out and let me know what you think.
